Not sure if you can help me but having seen Mr Turner today (and loved it – the photography was out of this world) can you tell me the significance of the dead girl – drowned at the end.
Was she the girl who accompanied the maid to Turners love nest of one of his daughters?
I obviously missed a trick

  • Hi Penny – thanks you for your email and I am glad you enjoyed the film. The scene with the dead woman derived from an incident described in early biographies of Turner. The woman was unknown to him, she was sadly washed up near his house and (despite being ill) he was keen to sketch her. You didn’t miss a trick! With very best wishes, Jacqueline
